Big Dog Overview

RACE TIMES: The adult race will start at midday on Saturday 14th August and finish at 6pm.

SIGN-ON: From 9am to 11.30am and the course will be open for practice from 11am.

RESERVES: These will be invited to sign on at 11.40 (20mins before the start) for any spaces remaining. Email info@brightonbigdog.com to be put on the official reserves list.

Open Retro Pairs (18+) - £45

Open Retro in association with Retrobike - Overview

The Retrobike category is open to all bicycles that were produced up to and including 1995. The misnomer 'retro' is used by the majority to mean older, or classic mountain bikes from the hey day of XC mountain bike racing. We are talking Klein Attitude's, Manitou hardtail's, Ritchey P21's and Fat Chance Yo Eddy! Team's. But of course, you could be the proud owner of a less exotic steed from the era.

For the Retrobike race category we'll let you get away with having a classic frame from up to 1995, you can use more modern parts. BUT to enter the 'Best In Show' Retrobike comp the majority of the bike needs to be of the correct age. We need to see cantilever brakes or old school U-brakes, 7 speed thumbshifters or Mavic under-bar Y-shaped shifters, RS1's or Answer Accutrax forks.....you get the idea.

Ride your old school bike in the Retrobike category, or do the Onederdog single lap sprint and see if your old bike can still cut it as a race bike over one lap. Up to you.

OneDer Dog Overview

First OneDer Dog laps are at 1pm. Last OneDer Dog laps are at 5pm.

After the main racing has been going for an hour the OneDer Dog racing starts. Rock up to the separate start line with your number (fresh from your musette sign-on pack) and head off. A time is worked by TimeLaps and it will put on a leader board. A bit like Top Gear. This will be a proper timed run, so you will get a pop at the fastest lap, The Hot Dog, and a chance of winning the much coveted trophy from Ricardo.

That way you can see what you did it in and can go back out for another one later if you want and pay again. If several of you OneDer Dogs want to race each other, just start at the same time.

This is a great category too for those wanting a blast but not a long race. It's also a great alternative to the Open Retro cat for those that might want to give their beloved retro machines a quick shakedown. Time to ride, compare, eat cake and maybe go again.

Little Dog Overview

This year in conjunction with VC Jubilee we'll be running a youth race, The Little Dog, for all those under the age of 18 so everyone can get in on The Big Dog experience.

The Little Dog races will start at 9am on Saturday 14th August and all finish by 11am.
